Saturday, May 21st, 2011, 2pm JTG vs. Vellano Bros.
Tim C. was our starting pitcher on this sunny day and he only gave up two runs in the top of the first inning. Offensively, 18 batters came to the plate. Although it was a great team effort, a noteworthy mention was our 9th batter, Ryan S. who doubled to the left center field fence driving in three runs. The final score after the first inning was 14-2. In the top of the 2nd, Tim had three strikeouts to retire the side. Offensive moves to advance the score to 16-2: Adam walked, AJ, Nick B. and Tim singled, and Sean also singled driving in two runs. In the third inning, with Cramer still on the mound, Nick B made a quick out on the second batter. Jared N. caught a line drive as shortstop to make the second out, and stepped on second base to make a final out of the game, yet continued the ball by throwing it to first getting the batter thrown out, and if there were four outs, that would have been the fourth or a would be triple play. Mike P. walked and made it to second on a pass ball. Nick W. also walked. Jared singled, AJ doubled driving in two runs, and Tim drove a ball at the pitcher which brought in two more runs. In the 4th inning, Shane had his pitching debut. Jared caught a line drive and Tim got the ball in right field and threw the runner out at first. What a great long and fast throw! At the end of the inning the score was 20-2. Ryan L. was out 5th inning pitcher. The first batter singled, but the second batter grounded to the pitcher, where Ryan L. made the double play. The final out was a strikeout. Great work Ryan L.! AJ had a solo home run, Tim and Joey walked, and Nick B. and Ryan L. singled to end the inning with the score 22-2. In the 6th inning, Nick B. came into pitch. The first batter doubled and advanced to third, although a throw to Adam at third got the runner out a third as he went off the bag and was tagged out. Next, AJ caught a pop fly. The final out of the game was a pop fly to Tim in right. Final score 22-2, great job boys, we are back on the winning side! Congratulations!
