Saturday, June 4th, 2pm, JTG vs. VFW

As the visiting team, Nick B. started us off with a single but was forced out at second. Adam also singled and stole second and Tim singled advancing Adam to third base. The next two runners went down on strikes leaving Adam on third and no score. Adam was our game pitcher, who took this game with sincere professionalism. The first VFW batter hit a double so Adam fired back with a strikeout on the next batter. Ryan L. caught a pop fly to deep shortstop for the second out and sent the ball home for an attempted out at the plate, but a run was able to score. Nick B. made the final out as second base to end the inning, 0-1 VFW.
The top of the second was uneventful for JTG. Defensively, Nick W. caught a pop fly to right field, Nick B. made a ground out at second and Adam struck out the fifth batter leading us into the top of the third inning.
Nick B. again started us off with a single. Following two pop outs, Sean also singled but was left on first. Ryan S. caught a pop to third in foul territory and Joe W. caught a pop as catcher back to back. The next VFW batter doubled, and the next two singles in a row where two runs scored. Adam struck out the final batter and the score advanced to 0-3, VFW in the lead.
In the 4th inning, Nick W. had a singled and was the only batter to make it on base. Adam started off by striking the first VFW batter out in the bottom of the 4th. The second out was a ground out to Ryan L. at shortstop, the final out was a ground out to Nick. B at second base.
The fifth inning was a busy one! In the top of the fifth, Nick B. singled for the third time this game. Tim and Sean walked and Joe made it to first on a fielders choice where Tim was out at third, but Nick made it home. Ryan L. singled driving in a run and at the end of the inning the score was 2-3 with VFW in the lead by 1 run. Adam rallied striking out the first batter. Nick was able to secure the second out on the third batter with a ground out to second. Although the next two VFW batters had a double and single, our catcher Joe made the final out at home on a throw leaving the score 2-6, VFW in the lead.
The sixth inning was a nail biter for both teams. Shane doubled and Nick singled driving in a run. Adam doubled and Tim singled driving in two runs. Sean singled and Tim slide home successfully on an overthrow. Ryan L. was able to make it to first on a fielders choice tying the game 6-6  in the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, the first out was a ground out to Ryan L. at short stop. Then VFW had a single. Adam struck the next batter out and then the final batter doubled driving in the winning run to end the game, 6-7, a VFW victory.
